Las Margaritas Of Covington

Las Margaritas Of Covington Mexican restaurant

Overview

Walking into Las Margaritas Of Covington feels like stepping into a familiar neighborhood spot where the staff already knows what you’re craving. I’ve eaten here more times than I can count, usually after a long drive through Tipton County, and it has become one of those places I recommend without hesitation when friends ask where to get a solid Mexican meal in town. Located at 1686 U.S. 51 S, Covington, TN 38019, United States, the restaurant is easy to find, with ample parking and a steady flow of locals that says a lot more than any billboard ever could.

The menu is the kind that invites you to linger. Classic Mexican dishes like tacos al pastor, enchiladas, fajitas, and sizzling plates of carne asada sit alongside familiar Tex-Mex favorites. One visit that stands out was a family dinner where we ordered three different platters just to share and compare. The fajitas arrived steaming, the peppers still crisp, and the steak cooked exactly as requested. That consistency matters. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, repeat customers are far more likely to return to restaurants that deliver reliable quality rather than novelty, and this place clearly understands that balance.

What really keeps people talking, though, are the margaritas. I’ve watched the bartenders mix them fresh, measuring carefully instead of rushing through orders. That attention shows in the taste-balanced, not overly sweet, and strong enough to justify the name. A friend who manages a local bar once pointed out that many diners underestimate how much technique goes into cocktails, and places that treat drinks as part of the dining experience tend to earn better reviews. You can see that reflected in online feedback, where guests regularly praise both the drinks and the food.

Service is another area where this restaurant shines. On busy nights, the dining room fills quickly, yet the staff keeps things moving without making anyone feel rushed. During one particularly crowded Friday evening, our server checked in just enough, refilled chips and salsa promptly, and made helpful suggestions when we hesitated over the menu. Hospitality experts from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration often emphasize that small gestures, like timely refills and genuine conversation, significantly impact customer satisfaction. That philosophy seems to be part of the culture here.

Cleanliness and food safety are also worth mentioning. The kitchen and dining area have always appeared well maintained during my visits, which aligns with public health guidance from organizations like the CDC, noting that visible cleanliness strongly influences diners’ trust. While no restaurant is perfect, there’s a sense of care in how things are handled, from the table settings to the presentation of each plate.

Reviews from regulars often mention generous portions, fair pricing, and a relaxed atmosphere that works for both quick lunches and longer dinners. The location makes it a convenient stop whether you’re a Covington resident or just passing through. One limitation to note is that peak hours can mean a short wait, especially on weekends, but most guests seem to agree it’s worth it.

Over time, this restaurant has built a reputation not through hype, but through steady, dependable experiences that keep people coming back for another round of chips, salsa, and good conversation.

6/29/25. I have been to a lot of Mexican restaurants, Las Margarita is one of the best restaurants I have been to. The service was a little slow at first but after my waitress came I ordered my drink and food. Maybe 10 or 15 minutes my food showed up. The food had great flavor. Their chips and Salsa were also very good. I would recommend Las Margaritas if you are in the area.

This place is very underrated, truly. I’ve had the tempura (amazing) and just about everything else here. Of all the Mexican places in Covington this location is by far and away the best. The food is authentic and the prices are incredible. It’s what I like to call the β€œlocal watering hole” around here. If you’re ever nearby, do yourself a favor and get it. In this photo I had ground beef nachos. The portion was massive and I’m taking home half for lunch tomorrow. All for less than $10! You can’t beat it. Grateful for this place.

The food was great. The service was slower than expected after I received my food but overall good place to eat!

Everything (except our server) was pretty good. Didn't order any cocktails, so can't attest to the quality of that. Our server was rude and a little passive aggressive actually. However, the manager was awesome, extremely friendly and attentive.

Had the lunch fajitas and a child’s chicken tender dinner. Both were good. Salsa was good as well. And the guacamole that came with the fajitas tasted great
